Yes, it’s that time of year again. Time to pick strawberries. We love strawberries! We like them in milkshakes, pies, shortcake, chocolate layered cake and of course, “Dipped in Chocolate”. So, I’ll be sharing lots of my strawberry recipes in the next week or so. Just to give you an idea what a dairy family likes to eat when they get done milking the bovines. 002.jpg     Is this a beautiful strawberry patch or what!? Easy pickin. I remember all those strawberry-picking days growing up. Mom would make us get up while it was still dark and we would be at the patch at the crack of dawn. We thought we were in so much pain and agony. All the whining and complaining. Who would’ve guessed that I would be getting up at the crack of dawn for the rest of my life. My, my, my, how things change.005.jpg      Big, bold and beautiful! I ate my fair share while picking. I hope that’s allowed. Nobody yelled at me for it. 006.jpg     I picked about nine of these buckets. It went fast. Give me about an hour and I’ll have a nice batch. 008.jpg     I was picking along, minding my own business when all of a sudden I had a visitor. Oh my goodness! I couldn’t believe it. Looks exactly like my old cat Dinker. Now I know cats are annoying but this one is a beauty. I actually asked the lady if she wanted to get rid of him. I know, I know. I have totally lost all common sense. Sadly, she said that he is their “baby”. Well, I told her if he ever has any offspring I want one. Crazy! Crazy! 013.jpg     This is what I ended up with. I kinda wish I had more. By the time I make all my goodies, I won’t have all that many to put in the freezer. Maybe I’ll send the kids over this weekend to get some more. That way they can get the “strawberry picking” experience firsthand. 016.jpg     I made a deal with Candace that if she cleans all the strawberries, I’ll milk for her. She jumped for it. Good deal all around. 024.jpg     I told her to save all the nice big ones to dip in chocolate. This is breakfast, lunch and supper. 026.jpg      Snack time in the barn. You have to eat them fast out there in the barn. Too much flying debris. Could be dangerous. 021     No, you may not eat my chocolate covered strawberries. Chocolate is toxic to animals. Thank goodness it’s not toxic to humans. That would be bad………………………………Carol
