Just a friendly reminder that June is dairy month. Not that this month is any different from the rest. We consume dairy like it’s going out of style. A gallon of milk a day. Icecream is an absolute. Milkshakes soothe the heart, soul, and mind. Cheese is a staple in my kitchen. We are sold on dairy. Just to show you how committed we are. We took this picture a few years back. We had so much fun. Oh my, the kids were still weenie. Notice the milk mustaches. Yep, we did it all. We all had “mad cow” back then already. It just gets worse as the years go by. That’s not a good sign. Shooter is still with us. We never put tags in her ears because they were perfect and Earl didn’t want to mess them up. She definitely looks a little older today but she’s just as feisty as ever. I tried to talk to her tonight while milking but she was being moody. Whatever. Beware. Barbara is watching you. If she doesn’t think you’re drinking or eating enough dairy, she will “tattle” on you. It won’t be pretty. She’s little but mighty. In fact………the whole herd is watching you. So be careful. You don’t have a chance. They have eyes in the back of their heads. I promise. The cows are out grazing trying to make more milk. I told them that June was their month to shine. They promised that they would behave and produce as much milk as possible. Good girls! Watch out for the Troyer kids. They’re watching you like a hawk. Are you drinking milk? Are you eating enough dairy? They will hunt you down and find you. Farm kids are mean and tough. Fair warning………………..Carol
P.S. I found this article in the Farm Talk, a weekly magazine that Earl gets.
