I’m sure you have all heard the term….”party till the cows come home”. Well, I’m here to tell you that the cows ain’t comin’ home…..they ARE the party animals! Yep, they have parties all the time. Do you really think they’re sleeping at night? I don’t think so. They’re busy planning their next attack on the “milkmaid”. It’s true! Nasty tails….fierce back legs….flying cow poop….stomping on the milkers…….I’ve seen it all.
Take a good look at this calf. What color is this? Where did this “red” come from? Another phrase you’ve all heard…..”the grass is greener on the other side of the fence”. I’m pretty sure that’s what the neighbor bull was thinking at the time.
So, apparently the cows had a rockin’ party about 9 months ago. I had forgotten all about this incident until we had 2 red calves born in the last few weeks. Ahhhh….yes! I remember now. Cute little stinker!
I’m sure the cows thought they were getting away with all their “hanky panky”. Not this time. A prime example of “Be sure your sin will find you out”. Haha
Cows, bulls, heifers…..not a one has any respect for barbed wire or panel fencing when there’s a party to go to. They’ll flatten anything. I’ve seen it happen with my own eyes. I wonder though……how many more “red” calves are we going to have before this whole thing blows over?…………………..Carol
Congrats Carol, you’ve got 50 followers! You’re on a roll; mind you… you deserve 5000! But I remember how happy I was when I made it to double digits! That red calf is a real little beauty, such a lovely colour and perfect little heart on her forehead. But oh dear, does that muck up your careful breeding program? I hope the neighbour’s bull has good genes for a milking herd and isn’t just giving you a whole lot of awesome fence-jumpers!!!

Ahhh….yes. 50 followers. Blogging isn’t so easy. I post on my facebook page and that helped tremendously with the readers, but the followers…….that’s a different story. I have a few faithful email followers, but that isn’t easy to come by either. I thank you for your support and encouragement. And no…..the red bull didn’t mess anything up. Just threw us a minor curveball with a few red calves. They’re spunky and pretty hearty. We can deal with that. You always get a few “rebels”….even with animals. Haha

Hey Carol, I don’t know if you’re even keeping this calf with the forehead heart, or what gender it is, or if you’ve named it. But I’ve taken a shine to this calf and if its appropriate would you consider naming the calf Aroha which is the Maori word for love. Its a beautiful word. ‘A’ is like “ah”. Maori roll the ‘r’ slightly. ‘o’ is like ‘or’. ‘ha’ just like you normally say it.

My little shadow this weekend, my 4 1/2 yr. old Grandson Benjamin, is in love with your red calves. Your carefully worded post required no censoring for him. He’s glad that the cows and the bull had fun at a party! He likes that the calf has a heart on the forehead, hearts are his favorite shape. Thank-you for sharing!
